We have 5 gifts to be grateful for as Christians that are sometimes set aside during the hubbub of the Christmas season. We’ve been born again, yet sometimes we need reminding of some of the special gifts God has given to us. Especially throughout the holidays, in the midst of good cheer and gladness, let us be mindful of these gifts which are core to our faith. And remember to share these with others:
God’s Gift of Grace
It is God’s gift of grace by which He extends His goodness and mercy toward us. Even if we reject or feel unworthy of it, it is always there for us to accept and be reconciled to Him.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. – Ephesians 2:8-9
God’s Gift of New Life
The ultimate gift from God is new life through Jesus Christ. Accepting God’s way and rejecting the world’s way gives us a firm foundation for living, dying, and the surety of Heaven.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. – II Corinthians 5:17
God’s Gift of the Holy Spirit
God has given us the Holy Spirit to guide us in sharing His Word with others. To spread the good news of salvation to everyone. This is our mission, to share the Gospel.
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. – Acts 1:8
God’s Gift of Prayer
We take comfort knowing that our Heavenly Father wants to hear from us – all our sorrows, all our joys, he wants to know our needs. That’s why he gave us the gift of prayer, the means by which we can communicate with God, anytime, anywhere.
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: – I John 5:14
