There are 66 books in the bible comprised of 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament.

Written in three continents of Asia, Africa and Europe, the bible has over 40 authors from various time periods and professions including prophets, royalty, a doctor, a scribe, musicians, fishermen, and others. Paul wrote at least 13 books and Moses wrote the first five books.

The longest book in the bible is Psalms with 150 chapters. The shortest book is II John with one chapter. The longest verse in the bible is Esther 8:9 with 90 words. The shortest verse is John 11:35 with only two words.

The bible was written in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek. The Old Testament was primarily written in Hebrew but a few books were written in Aramaic. The New Testament was written in Greek, the prevalent language at the time.

The bible is the only religious written work that includes the actual words of God. There are over 3,000 instances in the bible of “thus saith the Lord.” followed by words that are quotes from God.

Over 3,200 verses of fulfilled prophecy occurred within the bible or since it was written. There are still over 3,100 verses with prophesies yet to be fulfilled.

There are no contradictions in the bible. When looked at in its entirety, the bible’s teachings are clear, consistent, and without contractions even though it was written over a period of 1,500 years by authors inspired by God.

Proven to be historically accurate, the bible was written during the time when several secular historians, including Josephus, documented events of that period, all consistent with the bible’s historical accuracy. Archaeological discoveries continue to support the historical accuracy of the bible.

The bible is the most sold book of all time and is frequently on best seller lists. More than 168,000 bibles are sold per day according to Gideons, Wycliffe International and International Bible Societies.

Most scholars agree that the oldest book in the bible is Job written about 1500 BC and newest is the book of Revelation written about 96 AD.

The first translation of the bible into English was in 1382 AD by John Wycliffe. Today, there are over 2,000 translations with more partial translations, and audio translations for unwritten language.

The bible was the first book ever printed in 1454 AD by Johannes Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press.
