Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” – I Corinthians 4:2
Our God is faithful. His faithfulness is unwavering toward those who place their faith and trust in Him. He expects those who follow him to be faithful to Him, always. Our God enables us to be faithful through His instruction, guidance, and love. He helps us to stay faithful to Him every day. It is the least we can do for what God has freely given to us — salvation and everlasting life through the sacrifice of His son, Jesus Christ.
Do we set aside time to spend with God every day? He is our Father, and we are His children. We would not neglect our earthly parents and we should not neglect our spiritual Father either. Spend time with God every day and you will find Him leading you on a faithful path.
It is up to each one of us to stay on the faithful path or stray from it. He lets us freely choose. Stay on the path and your life will be more fulfilling, more blessed, more satisfying than the alternative. Staying on the faithful path is the right choice, you will know it and be confident that God is leading you.
Here are some bible-based tips to help you attain and stay on a faithful path with God every day:
Embrace the Blessing of Conviction
Remember when you were first saved? That feeling of conviction came over you and you finally surrendered to the Holy Spirit’s call. You found a new kind of freedom and you could feel your soul uplifted with unworldly joy.
I Peter 1:8: “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:”
But as with all Christians, you were subject to temptations, sufferings, and worldly influences on a daily basis. Keeping separated from the world was a new kind of challenge and one Christians continue to face every day. These things could easily knock you off your walk with Christ, but to those who persevere, the rewards are beyond anything this world can offer.
II Corinthians 6:17: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”
The importance of seeking God every day cannot be underestimated. Wash your mind in the water of Word daily and He will purify you, restoring that conviction that will help protect you and separate you from the world. Conviction helps us to stay on a faithful path and enables us to do the Lord’s work and enjoy His blessings every day.
Have a Repentant Heart
Even the best of believers find themselves in sin at some point. We know the great sins of men like David and Solomon. They recognized that God’s Word is all that matters and repented of their sins. Although the consequences of their sins had to stand, eternally, they were saved.
Ecclesiastes 1:14: “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13: “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”
It would be nice to think that when we first repented of our sins, we would no longer need to do it again. But we are human and born with a sinful nature that is always ready to rebel against God and godly ways. Keeping our sinful nature in check is a continuous process for as long as we live on this earth.
When you have fallen into sin, come back to God and repent of that sin. The walls of separation from God will come down and you will be in His good graces once more. The best way to prevent falling into sin is to pay attention to God’s Word every day. Make it a point to start your day communing with God in prayer and reading the Bible. Pay attention to what God is saying to you and act on it. It is the best and only preventive medicine for sin that you can get.
Psalms 5:3: “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.”
Rely on the Truth
In all aspects of your life, God will direct you if you let Him. Sometimes it is uncomfortable to turn control of your life over to someone else like a surgeon to fix your body, or a financial expert to fix IRS issues, or an attorney to help you out of a bad situation. But you know that by relying on experts the goal is to have an outcome that is in your best interest. How much more so when we rely on our heavenly Father to lead us by the hand through all the stumbling blocks that life presents to us.
Proverbs 3:6: “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Do we let God take control or do we rely on our own strengths and ambitions? We know there is only one way to truly overcome life’s obstacles and that is to rely on God and He will direct your path. Seek the Truth and do not be blindsided by your own conceit. Be faithful and immerse yourself in His Word, the Truth, for daily guidance.
Why should you grapple with obstacles with unsure outcomes when you know God has a better plan? It is a real test of faith to let go and let God. Choose to have a receptive heart, God will lead you if you let Him. You will be happier knowing you made the right choice.
Psalms 23:3: “He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”
Keep your appetite for conviction, repentance, and truth insatiable. Clear your vision of things worldly and set your sights on that which is everlasting. Long to walk on a faithful path and the Lord will lead you. And one day when your work on earth is done, like Paul, you’ll have finished the race and found to be a good and faithful servant of our Lord.
Matthew 25:21: “His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”
