I Will Guide Thee

I Will Guide Thee

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.” – Psalm 32:8

“I will guide thee.” What comforting words to remember, especially when faced with difficult decisions or circumstances. Too often, we remember these words after futile attempts to handle things on our own. If we just came to the Lord for help in the first place, we could have avoided unnecessary anxiety, uncertainty, and sleepless nights. We could have rested in His care and His promise, “I will guide thee.”

We are to submit ourselves to the Lord and let Him work through our lives. Although we know this, we don’t always put it into practice. We are often driven to make choices without God’s guidance or be tempted into making poor decisions. We become no different than anyone else in this world. We have failed to tap into the ultimate resource for guidance in all matters. How do you know you are making the right decisions without God leading you?

Ask Yourself

When was the last time you prayed and asked the Lord for guidance? Have you trusted the Lord to direct you? Pray and ask our Heavenly Father to guide you in all things. He hears and answers the prayers of His children in His own time – the right time. You will know when God’s guidance is presented to you, and be assured that His way is the only right way. After all, God created you and only wants the best for you.

He told us to cast all our care upon Him. Isn’t it nice to know that the great Creator will help you with not just one or two cares but ALL your cares? What a relief that God Almighty, who takes a personal interest in you and your cares, will guide you down the right path.

But there is one catch: you must let Him. Instead of hanging on to a troubling situation in your own strength, hand it over to God. Let the Lord lead you through every circumstance, difficulty, and fork in the road. Exercise your faith and trust the Lord to guide you. To help you along, we’ve included the following excerpt from “Biblical Helps Guide” by RU Recovery Ministries:

God Will Guide You

God will direct our lives. He will lead us. This applies to both our major and minor life decisions. God tells us that we can come to Him with every choice that is ours and let our requests be made known (Phil.4:6-7). God knows what is best for us. We cannot always rely on our own understanding. The Spirit of God will greatly lead us. If we feel coercion or undue pressure in some area, it is wise to wait on the Lord. He will prepare the way and open the doors. Of course, we can be hindered by Satan in doing God’s will, and we need to recognize that and exercise Christ’s authority and dominion over the forces of the enemy. We know that the Lord will lead and work things out as we trust Him (Proverbs 3:5-6; Romans 8:28-29).
