Is My Life Worth Living?

Is My Life Worth Living?

Is my life worth living? More Americans are asking themselves this question compared to ten years ago. A recent study by Lifeway Research shows that 57 percent of Americans wonder how they can find more meaning and purpose in their lives. The study also finds more American adults contemplate whether they will go to Heaven when they die but are less likely to believe there is more to life than this physical world.

These findings are revealing and present a prime opportunity for Christians to share the Gospel. People are hungry for a meaningful life. Sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ can bring fulfillment to their hungry souls. Share your experience with them and let them know they have a purpose and are precious in God’s sight. Tell them to allow God to be their strength and guiding light in their life.

God Values You

Have you ever asked yourself if your life was worth living? If you have come to ask that question, it’s time to examine your faith and perhaps seek counseling. Remember that God has created you in His flawless image. He knew you before you were ever conceived and knows everything that you are going through right now. God formed you in His likeness in every exquisite detail, and that makes you very special to Him.

Psalm 139:13: “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.”

Psalm 139:14: “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

Psalm 139:16: “Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.”

Though there are and have been billions of people who have walked on the face of this earth, you are unique among them all. God gave you a life with purpose, and that makes you valuable to Him, to mankind, and to yourself. Always look to God to fulfill your life; you will never lose your way. As you hold God in high esteem, so does He you. What life is more valuable than that?

Life is Worth Living

Never forget that God is always with you. You are never alone. He walks with you through every experience in this life. God promised trials and tribulations will come, but as long as you keep God as your focus, these things shall not prevail in your life. God will carry you through all things to the end of your days. Isn’t it nice to know that God is watching over you, lightening the load on your shoulders?

What exactly is your purpose in this world? God presents opportunities to you that glorify Him. Be willing, and He will see you through using His power. Isn’t that nice, His power, not that of your own? Your life is worth living if you allow God to be your pillar of strength and your light in the darkness. You will be blessed with a purposeful, meaningful, beautiful life.

His Love Brings Worth

Just as God loves His own Son, so loves He you. Jesus prayed to His Father:

John 17:23: “I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

God’s love is greater than human comprehension. Perfect love comes from God the Father through Jesus Christ and emanates from within you by the Holy Spirit. What could make your life more complete or more valuable? You own this eternal, perfect love, and nothing will ever separate you from it. God’s love is poured into your life – cling to it, rely on it, and take comfort in it. It is God’s love that empowers you to change lives, to bring people to the Lord so that they can have eternal life just like you have. What could be more fulfilling, purposeful, and worth living for?

You have a reason to exist, and not just any reason. You have God’s reason. Ask the Lord to help you overcome thoughts of worthlessness and restore your mindset to victory in Christ. You are important to God. He hears your cry and will help you.

If you need spiritual guidance, seek counsel from your pastor or local church. They exist to help you with your spiritual needs.
