Jesus instructed us to “let your light so shine.” Just like each star shines brightly piercing the night sky, so should we shine the Light of the Gospel. Being born again means that as part of our faith, we are to shine the Light of the Gospel in the sin-darkened world in which we live. Turn away from the sparkling attractions of this world because we have a greater Light, the everlasting shining presence of God within us.

How to Shine the Light

There are many ways to shine God’s Light to others, such as being involved in missions or ministry, starting a bible study group, being active in your church, etc. Even if you can’t do those, you can show the Light in everything you do, in all your speech and deed, every day. Live by example and others will see that Light emanating from within you. Simply let your light so shine and let God do his work in other people’s lives.

Matthew 5:14-16:

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Psalms 119:115:

105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

John 1:5:

5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
