The ministry in Myanmar faces immense challenges in the midst of ongoing conflict. Many rural pastors dedicate their lives to serving their communities without any financial support, relying solely on the meager offerings of their congregations.
Dino Pedrone Ministries is committed to supporting these dedicated servants of God. Their goal is to provide a lifeline to ten pastors by offering a monthly stipend of $200 each. These individuals are selfless leaders who have devoted their lives to spreading the Gospel in the face of extreme hardship.
A Nation Under Siege
Myanmar, once a beacon of hope, is now a war-torn country grappling with a brutal military junta. Since the February 2021 coup, the nation has endured escalating violence and oppression, with Christians bearing the brunt of religious persecution.
According to the Myanmar newspaper Irrawaddy, the country has been repeatedly listed as one of the world’s worst violators of religious freedom. The junta’s relentless attacks have seen the destruction of nearly 200 religious buildings, including a devastating toll on Christian places of worship. The bombing and occupation of Christ the King Cathedral in Kyah State in November 2023 is a stark example of the persecution faced by Myanmar’s Christian community.
Ministry in Myanmar: Seeds of Faith in a Desolate Land
Despite the perilous conditions, the light of Christ continues to shine. Partners of the ministry in Myanmar are courageously serving a scattered flock, providing solace and spiritual guidance to those who have fled their homes in search of safety. In the face of adversity, ten new believers were baptized between January and March, a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of God’s love.
Emmanuel Children’s Home: Nurturing the Next Generation
While the primary focus of the ministry in Myanmar is to support pastors and their congregations, the plight of the children has not been overlooked. In 2013, a young pastor received a heart-wrenching plea: a desperate mother was considering selling her child due to poverty. In response, Emmanuel Children’s Home was established, providing a sanctuary for vulnerable children. Today, this refuge provides a loving home for 20-30 children annually.
Rick Ramsey, International Director of Dino Pedrone Ministries, poignantly expresses the deep-rooted need for child-focused ministry: “My heart aches as I consider the trauma that children experience around the world. Many are hungry and hurting. I am grateful for the opportunity to minister to them as well.”
The Power of Children’s Faith
Jesus himself set the precedent for valuing children. Matthew’s gospel recounts how the disciples rebuked those who sought to approach Jesus, but He welcomed them with open arms. Children, with their simple faith, embody the essence of trust and dependence on God. Their lives, marked by vulnerability and innocence, mirror the heart of the Kingdom of God.
As we contemplate the plight of the Myanmar people, let us remember the words of Jesus: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14). Their faith, born from adversity, is a powerful testament to the enduring nature of God’s love.
