Patience in Prayer

Patience in Prayer

Patience in prayer is not always the case when we have anxious hearts. It happens to every believer at some point in our lives. At times, we pray and just can’t wait for God’s answer. We worry, are restless, and can be consumed with our circumstance.

Four Tips to Having Patience in Prayer

  1. Decide who knows better to handle the circumstance, you or God.If you, then there’s a bigger problem than your circumstance. Place your trust in God for all things in your life and over any anxious impulse you may have in your circumstance. Trust that God will answer your prayer.Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.If God, just lay it at His feet and then let God do His work.Psalms 143:1: (A Psalm of David.) Hear my prayer, O LORD, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

    God’s promise to you:

    Isaiah 41:13: For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

  2. Sometimes we feel we must control the circumstance we are in. Then, when we feel we’ve lost control, we seek God for help. Save yourself the stress and anguish, allow the Lord to handle it in the first place.Philippians 4:6: … but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
  3. Pray for others.Sometimes we get so focused on ourselves that we forget to pray for others and their needs. God has certainly heard your prayer, leave it for Him to answer. As you await His answer, ease your soul by focusing on prayers for others and helping them. Your help could be the answer to someone’s prayer.Ephesians 6:18: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
  4. Ease your mind through wellness of mind and body.If we allow circumstances to consume us, we can forget to take care of ourselves and our loved ones. Lack of sleep, anxiety, and depression can lead to physical, mental, and relationship issues. By relying on God for help, you will greatly benefit your wellbeing.Proverbs 3:21-24:
    21 My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:
    22 So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.
    23 Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.
    24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Trust God’s Answers

Christians know that God will hear and answer prayers. Sometimes God’s answer is completely different than expected. Answers can come when we least expect it or in the most unusual way. Some prayers that we thought have gone unanswered are revealed years later. After some time has past, perhaps you’ve thought like many others have, “Now I see the wisdom of God’s answer.”
