Revival Starts with Me

Revival Starts with Me

We pray for revival to see others led to Christ, to see changed lives, and to see the church grow. But where do we begin? Do we go to church more often and hold revivals with visiting evangelists? Do we read God’s Word more and pray more? Those are some means to achieve revival, but it really comes down to the hearts of individual believers which makes all the difference to saving souls and our nation. Start thinking: Revival starts with me.

At First Light

Remember the zeal you had when you became a Christian? You felt a conviction, a release from the penalty of sin, and the love of God. You were comforted with the assurance, blessings, and promises that salvation brings. We shared our newfound light with our friends and loved ones and then we handed out tracks and participated in church activities. Our light shone brightly and people could see our glow.

As time passed, we walked with Christ in our daily lives being examples that others could see and follow. Some of us went on to serve God in the ministry or mission field. Years pass and sometimes what we once kept dear in our heart became just a glimmer.

Escaping the Comfort Zone

Some of us may have experienced our faith becoming more routine and we have become complacent when it comes to soul-winning. When hearts turn comfortable in this world and no longer have the fire they once had, it is no wonder we see depleted churches and our nation turning away from God. We see social and political upheavals as Christianity is being challenged and dragged through the court systems.

It’s something we never dreamed of, here in our own country which was founded upon godly principles, evident in our founding documents, and etched on our government buildings. Shall we stay the course and put God in the backseat? God forbid! Even in our complacency we are alarmed that this is happening and know revival is needed. Have we let our responsibility of keeping our hearts afire slip?

Revival Starts with Me First

The need to restore our personal relationship with God comes first and is paramount to seeing revival in our churches and our country. Restore that shining light that once burned so brightly in our hearts. It’s time to wake up! We need to rise up from our sleepy comfort zone and get right with God before Christianity in our nation slips away.

We know God can get the work done, but we forget that we are the workers that He has called to do His work. Take the step to recognize and ask forgiveness for being complacent. Ask for God’s help to restore that fire within you. Pray. Read the bible. Shine your light. It is the starting place for revival.

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” – II Chronicles 7:14

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” — Romans 12:1-2
