Send the Blessed Gospel Light Around the World
A Christian’s Priority
Ever wondered how you could help spread God’s Word around the world? Supporting missionaries and church ministries will certainly help get the Gospel to those who need it. But you may want to help broaden that reach to populations that have little or no exposure to God’s Word.
Fulfilling the Great Commission ought to be every Christian’s priority. It was the last words and commandment Jesus gave before ending His earthly ministry and ascending into Heaven:
Matthew 28:18: “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
Matthew 28:19: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:”
Matthew 28:20: “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
The Need is Great
There are nearly 8 billion people in the world today and it is estimated that 3.27 billion people or 41.8% have not been reached with the Gospel according to Joshua Project, a research initiative that highlights the ethnic people groups in the world with the fewest followers of Christ. How can they be reached so that the Great Commission can be fulfilled?
There are organizations that send Bibles into remote areas and places where the Gospel is forbidden. Some of these organizations are well known while others quietly work behind the scenes to get the job done. Even some missionaries we support have translated the Bible into indigenous languages and dialects enabling more people to be reached.
Because They Need to Hear
But did you know there are over 1 billion people in the world who cannot read their Bible in their own language? These people need to hear the Gospel. Superstition, poverty, and lack of education often create barriers against sharing the Word of God. How can these people learn about God if they can’t read the Word of God? But scripture tells us even these people can be reached:
Romans 10:17: “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
That’s where organizations like Talking Bible International steps in. Their mission is to provide non-readers and the visually impaired access to the Bible in their native language. Talking Bible produces self-contained audio Bible players. These players provide audio recordings of Old and New Testament scriptures that have been translated into hundreds of languages.
The Talking Bible device actually looks like a compact bible, is ruggedized to withstand harsh conditions, and has easy-to-use controls to play audio using headphones or speakers. It comes as a battery-operated model using two AA batteries or as a solar powered model that plays for over two hours when fully charged, perfect for those living in remote areas.
How It Works
Talking Bible has access to Bible recordings translated in over 2,000 languages. They work with major organizations involved in Bible recordings and with Bible societies around the world. Teaming up with hundreds of missionaries, pastors, and evangelists, these devices are distributed in selected areas where the need is great.
Local leaders are trained on distribution and in using the devices. These are given to non-readers to hear and share God’s Word with families, friends, and fellow workers. Pastors and evangelists visit listeners and answer their questions. They shepherd and baptize new believers who then join or form a church.
Additionally, audio translations can be listened to through the Talking Bible website so that people can listen to the Bible in their language anytime, anywhere in the world where there is Internet access.
According to the Talking Bible website, “Donor support helps equip a new believer or group with a Talking Bible in their language and train them to share God’s Word, so they can reach friends and family with the Good News about Jesus.” You can learn more about Talking Bibles International by visiting their website.
Sharing God’s Light
When we became Christians, we became vessels of God’s light. Don’t miss an opportunity to share God’s light. Now, more than ever before, not only is the need to share the Gospel great, but we have more ability to help fulfill the Great Commission.
Matthew 5:14: “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.”
Matthew 5:15: “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.”
Matthew 5:16: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Like the apostles called to serve before us, some of us are called to be missionaries to reach all nations, and some of us are called to be ministers to proclaim His Word. But all of us are called to share the light of the Gospel. Through advances in technology and collaboration from workers in the field it is now possible to reach even the most remote people populations with the Gospel more than ever before.
