I Will Not Leave You Comfortless is a sermon teaching us that the child of God is never truly alone. When you believe in God, the Holy Spirit dwells in you.
People may feel completely alone or even those with their loved ones who just can’t socialize as we used to during these troubling times. But a child of God is never completely alone. God cares for you through hardships. Jesus is with you and cares for you. The bible says, “Your sorrow shall be turned to joy.” God turns the bitterness to joy itself. Jesus said to his disciples that God would give them another Comforter like Him. The Comforter to come is the Spirit of Truth, the Holy Spirit, whom the world does not receive because it does not believe in Him.
Every born again believer has the Spirit of Truth living within them. When you receive Christ you receive the Trinity — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You cannot separate the Trinity which dwells in you. Jesus said, “I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to you.” he will come again to take you home with Him. The disciples would see Him three days after the cross. He made that promise to you too who have placed your trust and faith in Him. Do you believe in him? If you do, then you will see Him again and you are not comfortless.
If you love God, keep His commandments. But, we are unable to, only Jesus can keep the commandments. We know what God wants us to do and not do. He says, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” We show our love to Him by loving and obeying Him. He pledges to manifest to us the Comforter. We can rejoice that He is with us — we have the indwelling Holy Spirit. You have His presence and promise not to leave you comfortless. The believer in Christ is never alone. You can come to God and pray to Him if you believe this. We look forward to that day when we will see Jesus face to face.
I Will Not Leave You Comfortless sermon starts with verses from John 14:16-21:
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
