Looking for That Blessed Hope: Lord’s Return

Looking for That Blessed Hope: Lord’s Return

Looking for That Blessed Hope: Lord’s Return is a sermon teaching us that we are to live as Christ-like as we can be and be ready for the Lord’s return.

Timothy and Titus were younger pastors who Paul had trained and instructed them not to be ashamed of his testimony. Paul wrote from prison in Rome for preaching the gospel of Jesus. Today, imprisonment is increasing. But God has saved us, God is our Savior. We are not saved by our own but by God who knew that we would be saved before the world was created.

God’s Grace

The grace was made manifest by the appearing of the Lord Jesus. Jesus is God and He saved us. The bible teaches of the deity of Christ. He is our Hope to expect with confidence and to anticipate with confidence. God who is eternal chose us as His own before the foundation of the world. God knows who is going to be saved, it is the omniscience of God. He doesn’t choose, He knows. God sees everything at once.

Anyone can believe in Jesus Christ. We can hope in an everlasting God. Jesus came and ministered, died arose, and this same Jesus will come again. So we expect with confidence for that blessed hope. We are saved through grace, it is the grace of God that saves us. We know Jesus is the embodiment of grace. Grace is the loving-kindness of God toward us. Not only does grace save us, but it is also available to everyone.

Grace teaches us some things. Because we are saved by grace, we deny ungodliness — anything that opposes God. Grace teaches us to deny worldliness — worldly lusts and temptations — something we all have. We should live soberly, meaning seriously. Don’t be frivolous or nonsensical, instead, live with purpose and righteously. Be as righteous as you can be. Jesus knows we are not perfect like our Father in Heaven, but we must be as much like the Lord as we possibly can be — that is called spiritual growth. We need to be godlike in this present world and we will be with Him forever. But now, grace teaches us to live soberly and follow God’s Word.

Something Better is Coming

We ought to be thankful for what God has given to us, but he has something better for you. Look for the blessed hope, the Great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. God is coming. From the beginning, the trinity is taught. Jesus Christ our Savior and God is coming. If we believe in Jesus we have everlasting life. We still hope to be with our loved ones. We hope for our own resurrection or to be caught up in the clouds with Jesus. We hope to see and be in Heaven, to see Jesus, and to reign with Him. We hope to experience no more death, crying, or pain. We hope for the glorious appearing of Jesus Christ.

Things are hard now but we are not in the Tribulation period. It will be far worse than now. Get ready for things to come. Do not look at tribulation, but for the appearing of our great God, Jesus Christ. He comes for His people who are zealous for good works. There is a blessed hope, the Lord Jesus is coming. Are you ready? Are you saved? When He comes, those who have received Him will go with Him, others will not. Put your trust and faith in Jesus Christ. Serve Him and live a life that points others to Christ, always looking for that blessed hope and our great Savior, Jesus Christ.

Looking for That Blessed Hope: Lord’s Return sermon starts with verses from II Timothy 1:8-10:
