Overcoming Bitterness
Overcoming Bitterness is a sermon presented by brother Eric Murphy, missionary with Life Impact for Eternity. This inspiring message will help you overcome life’s hurdles in a biblical way.
Christians have various ups and downs in life. You may be familiar with that. One of the greatest tests you’ll ever face was experienced by King David. He was betrayed by someone close to him. Young or old, you can face betrayal. This could be a test given by God to prepare you for something greater. Or, it could be a protection keeping you from harm. Best is to accept it and praise God for it. Take it to God and ask what to do. God will help you through difficult times. Sometimes we turn bitter in our situations, turn it to God and ask forgiveness.
The sermon starts with the texts from Psalms 55:10-14:
10 Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
11 Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
12 For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:
13 But it was thou, a man mine equal, my guide, and mine acquaintance.
14 We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
15 Let death seize upon them, and let them go down quick into hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.
16 As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
Even Jesus Christ suffered betrayal and grieved. He prayed to God the Father. He taught us how to handle situations like when He was betrayed. He said to those who betrayed Him, “Peace be unto you.” This is the example we are to follow so that we may reach many for Christ.
John 20:19-21:
19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.
20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.
21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
John 21:19:
21 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.
