Thanks Be To God is a sermon about being thankful to God for His unspeakable gift. Give Him your heart, because while we were yet sinners, He first loved us.

Although we celebrate Thanksgiving and associate it with the colonial days of America, the concept of thanksgiving goes all the way back to the bible. “Thanksgiving” is mentioned 28 in the bible and variations of it are mentioned 152 times, plus there were thank offerings given at the Temple in the Old Testament.

Scripture teaches us the principle of giving in that he who sows sparingly also reaps sparingly and he who sows bountifully also reaps bountifully. You cannot sow seeds of corruption and expect to grow spiritually. If you sow the seeds of the Spirit, you will reap the fruits of the Spirit.

Giving has to come from the heart, not because you have to but because you want to and are willing to. God loves a cheerful giver. Jesus promised us, if we live for Him, give to Him, we are promised blessings and persecution in this life, but also eternal life. Our lives will be enriched in everything, God will bless us.

It is a matter for the heart. The proof of the ministry of giving not only takes care of the wants of other believers, but also the many thanksgivings given to God. The idea is for us to give what we can and to give to the Lord. We are thankful because of God’s unspeakable gift — the gift that God has given to us that words cannot sufficiently describe.

What does God want? What God truly wants from us is our heart, our soul, our mind, and all our strength. Give God your heart, not because we love God, but because He first loved us.

Thanks Be To God sermon starts with verses from II Corinthians 9:6-15:

Exodus 35:4-9, 21-24, 29:

⁴ And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,

⁵ Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass,

⁶ And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair,

⁷ And rams’ skins dyed red, and badgers’ skins, and shittim wood,

⁸ And oil for the light, and spices for anointing oil, and for the sweet incense,

⁹ And onyx stones, and stones to be set for the ephod, and for the breastplate.

²¹ And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.

²⁹ The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the LORD, every man and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the LORD had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.

Exodus 36:6-7:

⁶ And Moses gave commandment, and they caused it to be proclaimed throughout the camp, saying, Let neither man nor woman make any more work for the offering of the sanctuary. So the people were restrained from bringing.

⁷ For the stuff they had was sufficient for all the work to make it, and too much.

Mark 10:29-30:

²⁹ And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s,

³⁰ But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

Luke 6:38:
