The Battle’s Not Yours is a sermon teaching us that the Christian life is a battle, not a physical one but a spiritual one. Non-Christians are not even in the battle. It is not between Christians and non-Christians. The battle is internal, not external. God will take revenge on disobedience. God will do what’s right. We have wars between us because we have war within us. The enemy of the Christian is the world — the world system and its philosophy. We have a God-given duty to take the solution to our world.

There have been people who worship the creation more than the Creator. Don’t get attached to things of this world. The pride of mankind is that man is good. Everything we have in this world is temporary and everything is constantly changing. We are in the end times. We are in God’s time schedule, not ours. The world and all that is in it shall pass away. No man knows when Jesus shall return.

Many people were against Christ in Jesus’ time and in our time. There are many antichrists now. Christians are soldiers, we are commanded to be in the battle. It is spiritual warfare. Christians need to be near God and recognize who the enemy is. The warfare is not easy. We need to endure for the long term and lean on the Lord, realizing that the battle is the Lord’s. It is not our battle. All battles have casualties, some don’t take the battle seriously, others desert, become traitors, or grow weary in the battle. The things we have to bear every day, or sometimes we are wounded even by our own side. Some have fallen in battle and some will be victorious. Our faith will lead us through the battle.

In II Chronicles, it was a time of real battle for Israel. Surrounded by enemies, Jehoshaphat, the King of Israel did not have the resources to battle, he was afraid. He sought the Lord with his people — a national turning to God. All our problems are because we turn against God. The Lord promised that if the people call and turn to Him, He will deliver them and us today. There is only one Gospel that we must preach to the world to be saved. King Jehoshaphat and the people of God were in trouble with the enemy closing in all around with their armies. It was one country versus three. If there is trouble around you and you don’t know what to do, look to the Lord to help you. Everyone including the King called to God an say “our eyes are upon you and a man of God came up from the midst of the crowd and spoke with the Holy Spirit upon him. He said that God says be not afraid of these attaching armies. When others challenge, we unite then we can bear. We need to put our eyes on God for the battle is the Lord’s. God will fight it if you let Him or you can try. We need to understand that the battle is not ours, but God’s.

How’s the battle in your life? Trust Jesus and join the fight, but it’s not your battle, it’s God’s. Have you given up? Realize you are on the victory side. We know who wins. We know who’s already won. God is in control, trust Him because the battle is His. God will deliver. Put faith and trust in Him. When the battle is hard, turn to the Lord and be strengthened and encouraged because you are on the winning side, because the battle is the Lord’s.

The Battle’s Not Yours sermon starts with verses from II Chronicles 20:1-15:

¹ It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

² Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.

³ And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

⁴ And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD.

⁵ And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court,

⁶ And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?

⁷ Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?

⁸ And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying,

⁹ If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help.

¹⁰ And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not;

¹¹ Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.

¹² O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee.

¹³ And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

¹⁴ Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation;

¹⁵ And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
