The Problem With Pride is a sermon concerning a problem most people have and find it difficult to overcome. Scripture teaches us that human pride separates the heart of man from God, our Creator because we feel sufficient. Pride comes from the human heart. We are to set aside our pride as God hates the evil that is pride.
The Fear of the Lord
We are to fear the Lord which means acknowledging the holiness, the majesty, and authority of God in your life. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, thus we should hate evil. Scripture teaches us that the root of fighting is pride. In fact, scripture teaches us that everyone with pride is an abomination to the Lord. When we join forces in our pride, it is outright rebellion against God. When we are consumed with pride, we are setting ourselves up for a great fall. It is better for us to humble ourselves than to be proud. It is the pride of man that causes us to do wickedness.
Instead of trusting in our prideful self, we are to trust in the Lord who will make us prosper. The problem with pride is that it takes our attention away from God and places it on self. Pride causes us to lose the love of God and lose the love of our neighbors and to look down at them. Pride also causes us to not repent of our sins even if we are aware of our sins. Are we too proud to humble ourselves and let the Holy Spirit work in our lives, and to admit that we’ve done wrong and give our hearts over to God? Pride keeps us from God’s best. We miss out on so much God has for us because we are just too proud.
What Should We Do?
We should come before the Lord and admit that we are sorry for our pride and the harm it has done. Turn your pride over to the Lord and He will forgive you. Ask God to help you overcome pride so that you can be a good testimony so that others might be saved.

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
