The Safest Place to Rest In is a sermon teaching us that we’re living in a very uncertain world. We need to trust in the one who can give certainty in these uncertain times. God will protect us and tells us not to be afraid.
We’re living in a time like none other. In this time of uncertainty we need an anchor to hold us fast. We need a rock on which to stand. We need a firm foundation. We need an unchanging reference point to show us our way.
The secret place of the most high is where you spend your time with God. We need to spend more time with God, read your bible and pray, spend time in prayer. Pray every day and throughout the day, pray like you’ve not prayed before. Then get into God’s word and let God’s word speak to you.
We should abide in God’s presence. This is a promise of God. The children of God must spend time with God. You are a child of God if you are born again and believe in Jesus Christ. If not, you need to come to Him and trust Him. Once you do that, then you have the opportunity to spend time with Him and dwell with Him. We need to understand that He wants us to spend time with Him, that’s why we’re created. We were created because God wanted us to spend time with Him. We abide in the shadow of the Almighty and He protects us.
During these trying times, we should look after each other. We are paying a lot of attention on the physical now, but we should focus on the spiritual. God will get us through this. We can turn to God in a time like this. It’s unprecedented for us but was not for Him. God knows what’s happening now and what will happen.
God calls us to come to Him. God’s truth shall protect us from the unseen enemy and seen enemy. He tells us not to be afraid. The Lord is with you, He cares about you and He’s going to bring you through. Call on God, He will listen to you. Rest in the one who has saved your soul. Put your faith in the Lord Jesus and trust Him.
You may not be as strong as you need to be, many of us aren’t. God’s strength is made perfect in weakness. We may not be as strong as we need to be but we can trust in the one who is. We can trust in the one who is as strong as we need Him to be. You can rest in Him and you can be at peace.
The Safest Place to Rest In sermon starts with verses from Psalms 91:1-16:
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8 Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9 Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11 For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13 Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
Psalms 27:4-5:
4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.
4 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
