Wash Thine Heart from Wickedness is a sermon about a nation who turned to religion, but turned away from God. Find out in this sermon how we can restore our relationship with God.
Wash Thine Heart from Wickedness sermon starts with the verses, Jeremiah 4:14:
14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
Psalms 53:1-3:
1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
2 And God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Isaiah 64:6:
6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses areas filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Psalms 24:3-4:
3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?
4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.
Psalms 51:10:
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
Psalms 73:1:
1 (A Psalm of Asaph.) Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
So the question is, how do we get a clean heart? How do we become clean before God?
refer to Luke 5:12-13:
12 And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
13 And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.
If you want to be clean, come to the Lord and ask, “If you will, make me clean.” and He’d say, “I will, be thou clean.”
II Corinthians 5:17:
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
