You Don’t Have to Be Famous is a sermon teaching us that God has a work for each of us to do. There are untold billions who have and are serving the Lord. The majority of those who serve are not famous.

One man was used by God for His will to build His house, a place where people could gather for worshipping Him. All churches were patterned after this. Bezaleel was selected by God to build the tabernacle.

The Two Most Important Questions

In the New Testament, Paul and Silas were locked up in prison and they sang praises to God at midnight. God sends an earthquake opening the jail’s cell doors and unloosed all the prisoners’ shackles. But no one escaped. Paul and Silas prevented the jailor from killing himself. The jailor asked, “What must I do to be saved?” They told him that he was saved by grace and that it was a gift from God. They told him to believe in Jesus Christ and he would be saved and his house.

On the road to Damascus in Syria, Saul was met by the resurrected Jesus Christ. Saul asks, “Lord, what do you want me to do?” and the Lord tells him to get up and go to the city without telling him any further explanation. In the city, Ananias was sent by the Lord and told Saul he would be filled with the Holy Spirit of God. Saul became Paula and was baptized and preached the Gospel ever since. Have you asked, “What must I do to be saved?” If not, ask Him to come into your heart. Have you asked the Lord what He wants you to do? Most people never ask these questions because they already know what they want to do. If you never asked the questions, you don’t know what God wants you to do.

Unknown Servants of God

God probably has billions of servants over time in this world to do His work that we’ll never know who they are. They faithfully serve Him. You do not need to be famous to serve God. Great servants of God are in the minority.

At the tabernacle, the people could see God’s presence with a pillar of fire. Similarly happened when Solomon’s temple was built. Moses was given the job of building the tabernacle. God tells Moses a specific person must do the work, Baseleel, who was filled with the Spirit of God. In the Old Testament period, the Holy Spirit did not indwell people, instead the Holy Spirit came and left people, enabling them to do God’s work. Today, the Holy Spirit indwells people. There are many famous people mentioned in the Bible who did the Lord’s work. After Pentecost, the indwelling of the Holy Spirit began to occur.

In the Old Testament, God was present in the tabernacle, and in the New Testament times, God indwells believers. People are filled with the Holy Spirit to do the work of the Lord. God calls people to do his work. God has work for you to do. Ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit and see the work that he will have you do.

A Job Well Done

Bezaleel was the builder of the tabernacle and was filled with the Holy Spirit, directed by God. He was given the skills by God to get the job done. We should all be a Bezaleel. He did it God’s way with God’s help. Most people don’t know about Bezaleel. He was helped by others who God sent. All are not famous but did a great thing to build and finish the entire tabernacle.

After the tabernacle was built, God set up the tribe of Levi to be priests with Aaron as the first priest and his descendants thereafter. Another from the tribe of Levi served in the temple to maintain it. They did a great work but are unknown to history, their descendants are “Cohen.”

You should pray and ask God what he wants you to do. Maybe preaching, teaching, or just daily maintenance. All who are saved are called to serve. you don’t have to be famous to serve God. We need to earnestly and honestly ask God to do what He wants us to do.

⁹ According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

Exodus 31:1-11:

¹ And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

² See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

³ And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

⁴ To devise cunning works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass,

⁵ And in cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of timber, to work in all manner of workmanship.

⁶ And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee;

⁷ The tabernacle of the congregation, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the tabernacle,

⁸ And the table and his furniture, and the pure candlestick with all his furniture, and the altar of incense,

⁹ And the altar of burnt offering with all his furniture, and the laver and his foot,

¹⁰ And the cloths of service, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest’s office,

¹¹ And the anointing oil, and sweet incense for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do.

Acts 16:30-31:

³⁰ And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Acts 9:6:

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

I Corinthians 3:16:

¹⁶ Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
