The Harvest Truly Is Plenteous

The Harvest Truly Is Plenteous

In Matthew 9:37-38, Jesus calls out to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will thrust forth laborers into his harvest.” These verses are a powerful reminder of the spiritual work that needs to be done in the world and the need for more people to dedicate their lives to this important task.

The Plentiful Harvest

The phrase “the harvest truly is plenteous” emphasizes the vast number of people who are still lost and in need of salvation. The world is full of hurting, lost, and confused people who are searching for meaning and purpose in their lives. As Christians, we have a responsibility to share the Gospel with these people and help them find their way to Jesus.

The Few Laborers

The phrase “the laborers are few” highlights the shortage of people who are actively involved in sharing the Gospel. Many Christians are content to live their lives in isolation, without reaching out to others with the message of salvation. However, Jesus calls us to be His hands and feet in the world, sharing His love with everyone we meet.

The Call to Prayer

In response to the shortage of laborers, Jesus calls on His disciples to pray for more workers to be sent into the harvest. Prayer is a powerful tool that can be used to bring about change in the world. When we pray for more laborers, we are asking God to raise up people who are willing to dedicate their lives to sharing the Gospel.

How to Be a Laborer in the Truly Plenteous Harvest

There are many ways that we can be laborers in the harvest. Here are a few examples:

  • Share your faith with others: Talk to your friends and family about your faith in Jesus. Be open to sharing the Gospel with anyone who will listen.
  • Get involved in your church: There are many ways to serve your church and be a blessing to others. Get involved in a small group, volunteer for a ministry, or simply attend worship services regularly.
  • Support missionary work: Missionary work is essential for reaching people who have never heard the Gospel. Consider supporting a missionary or a missionary organization financially or through prayer.
  • Live a godly life: Your life is a testimony to others. By living a godly life, you are showing others what it means to follow Jesus.

Matthew 9:37-38 is a powerful call to action for all Christians. We are called to be laborers in the harvest, sharing the Gospel with a lost and hurting world. By praying for more laborers and actively participating in the work of the kingdom, we can help bring about spiritual revival in our communities and around the world.
