The Power of One

The Power of One

The significance of “one” cannot be overstated especially when it comes to Christianity. We have all heard phrases like “one for all, all for one” or “it takes one to know one.” But what does the bible say about the important role of “one” and the impact it has on our belief system, in our lives as Christians, and our very existence? Here are only some examples of how “one” has played a pivotal role in our past and in our future:

The Power of One God

The foundation of our belief rests on the premise that there is only one true God and everything we know of Him and his plan for us is revealed through His one and only Word.

One God

Deuteronomy 4:35: Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

Deuteronomy 4:39: Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

I Kings 8:60: That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God, and that there is none else.

Isaiah 46:9: Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,

Revelation 1:8: I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

One Word

John 1:1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14: And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Acts 6:7: And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

Ephesians 6:17: And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

Hebrews 4:12: For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I Peter 1:23: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

I John 1:1: That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

I John 5:7: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

Revelation 19:13: And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

The Power of One Time

There is a first time for everything. Nowhere is that more evident than in the biblical accounts of creation, the fall of man, and the one judgement upon the earth known as the worldwide flood that destroyed all that lived except those God set aside on the ark.

One Creation

Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:2: And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

One Flesh

One Command

One Sin

Genesis 3:6: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

One World Flood

II Peter 2:5: And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

The Power of One Salvation

The Power of One Soul Winner

Each Christian has found their path to the Savior and is redeemed for all eternity. But we have a duty to share the Gospel with others so they may also be led to salvation. We are not to hide our light under a bushel but to let it shine so all can see.
