He is passionate about sharing how scripture reveals the love God has for the Jewish people and the significance of Israel\u2019s existence.<\/p>\r\n<h3><strong>A Love for Israel<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p>As a history enthusiast, Dr. Colon has spent years studying archaeology and has engaged in excavations in Jerusalem and Bethsaida (Golan) under the auspices of the Israel Antiquities Authority. It is the earliest surviving, and only contemporary, record of Pontius Pilate, found in Caesarea, Israel.<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\r\n<p>In 1974, Dr. Colon came to know the Lord as his personal Savior. Two years later, he married his lovely wife, Janis. She came from a family who knew the Lord for many years. In 1977, both Dr. Colon and his wife sensed the call to serve the Lord as their vocation, and they have worked diligently in the Jewish ministry ever since.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-Peter-Colon-Janis-Photo-2013-500.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11314 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-Peter-Colon-Janis-Photo-2013-500.jpg\" alt=\"Dr. Peter Colon and wife Janis.\" width=\"500\" height=\"523\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-Peter-Colon-Janis-Photo-2013-500.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-Peter-Colon-Janis-Photo-2013-500-287x300.jpg 287w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<h3><strong>A Light in a Dark World<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p>His educational pursuits included taking specialized courses at Spertus College of Judaica in Chicago known for its learning opportunities that are \u201crooted in Jewish wisdom and culture and open to all.\u201d \u00a0He has participated in the Jewish Studies program at Moody Bible Institute and attended the Institute of Holy Land Studies in Jerusalem.<\/p>\r\n<p>Currently, Dr. Colon is a professor at Jacksonville Baptist Theological Seminary in Southeast Florida. An avid writer, his articles appear in the magazine <a href=\"https:\/\/israelmyglory.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Israel My Glory<\/em><\/a>, in which he was voted its Higher Goals Award in the devotional category by the prestigious Evangelical Press Association in 2006.<\/p>\r\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-peter-colon-MarApr2020_Cover.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11315 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-peter-colon-MarApr2020_Cover.jpg\" alt=\"Israel My Glory Cover\" width=\"600\" height=\"770\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-peter-colon-MarApr2020_Cover.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.westpark-baptist-dev.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/dr-peter-colon-MarApr2020_Cover-234x300.jpg 234w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\r\n<h3><strong>Soul-Stirring Filmography<\/strong><\/h3>\r\n<p>Filmmaking is another interest of his. Dr. Colon is the writer and producer of the <em>film Rossvally: From the Synagogue to the Saviour<\/em>, the true-life story of Civil War figure Dr. Max Lewis Rossvally. His wish is to reach as many people as possible to deliver the message of hope. He says, \u201cHeaven is a free gift provided by God.
